Self catering holiday cottage for 4 people in Muker situated within the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Ideal village location
Muker derives it's origins as a Norse settlement, and is situated at the meeting point of the River Swale and the Straw Beck. The village used to be a centre for lead mining, but nowadays is better known for it's excellent location for walking and outdoor activities, being well catered for with a village shop, local pub (the Farmers Arms), craft shop and cafe. The Farmers Arms is convieniently situated along a short path from Harriet's Cottage.
Harriet's Cottage, which sleeps 4, is situated in an elevated position in the centre of Muker, but in a secluded plot above the other properties. All rooms enjoy delightful views of the dale to the South. The cottage has been completly restored during 2002 to a very high standard, with full oil fired central heating and individually controlled radiators in each room, double glazing throughout, as well as many original features of pine beams and doors with traditional decor and furnishings. The south-facing cottage nestles in a tranquil location with spectacular views over Swaledale and to the Buttertubs Pass in the west.
The house features many traditional local items such as clippy rugs and local pictures.

Ground Floor
The house features a traditional stone flagged entrance hall. The hall leads onto the kitchen, the living room, and stairs to the first floor.
Kitchen
The kitchen with its old pine floor, pine dresser and pegged rugs is well equiped with modern storage cupboards, an electric cooker, fridge, microwave and washing machine. A pine dining table and chairs make this a cosy place to eat, or relax in the wing chair absorbing the view. A door from the kitchen leads into the rear lobby.
Rear lobby
At the rear of the kitchen is a lobby for coats and boots, and a back door leading to the parking area.
Living Room
The cosy and relaxing sitting room with open fire, pine features, sofa and comfy chairs, TV, video and hi-fi and telephone for use with a phone card, available from Post Offices (mobiles don't usually receive a reception this far up the dale!).
First Floor
The first floor has two bedrooms (a double and a twin) and a bathroom.
Double Bedroom
The bedroom has a double bed with hand stitched quilt, wardrobe, dressing table, and window seat to enjoy the wonderful views from the front of the property across Swaledale.
Twin Bedroom
The bedroom has two single beds, and a victorian satinwood bedrooom suite including wardrobe, dressing table, and wonderful views across Swaledale.
Bathroom
The tiled bathroom has a bath with shower over, w.c. and hand basin.
Garden
Outside is lovely and colourful garden with uninterrupted views of the fells overlooking the village, it's a great place to relax after a tiring day.

Short Breaks (SB)
Short Breaks are sometimes offered for 3 nights. These are usually Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but days are flexible, so please do contact us to see if your request can be accommodated!
