Little Garth is a Grade II listed property situated close to the pretty village green of Crakehall with St Gregory’s Church, Crakehall Water Mill and local store with filling station. Crakehall is near the market town of Bedale in Wensleydale. This is an ideal centre to discover the National Parks of the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, Little Garth being only approximately four miles from the A1 on the main A684 road from Bedale to the Lake District, which puts Crakehall Village at the gateway to Wensleydale.
The Bay Horse Inn oversees the Green with the majestic Crakehall Hall and stone cottages such as Little Garth encircling the boundary. Local teams of cricket and quoits play on the Green during the summer season with stars of Emmerdale Farm frequenting the area too. The Crakehall Water Mill, repaired in 2010, is now able to grind flour, which can be purchased locally, ideal for bread making. Crakehall is central to discovering Richmond and Castle, Durham Cathedral and Beamish Museum if travelling to the North. Towards the South is a great family day out at Lightwater Valley, Ripon and Cathedral or Fountains Abbey. Travelling Eastwards visit Thirsk and enjoy the world of James Herriott, follow the nature trail at Sutton Bank, or even Captain Cook’s country at Great Ayton. Westwards is the famous Tan Hill, England’s highest pub, Middleham Castle, Aysgarth Falls or the bustling market town of Hawes with that famous pair Wallace and Grommit at the Wensleydale Creamery offering tours, shop and restaurant.
