Tea Rooms / Cafes

We enjoy an afternoon tea, a good filter coffee and of course cake (we LOVE cake!).

Luckily for us we have an abundance of tea rooms, cafes and coffee shops to choose from in the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and North Yorkshire.

For your benefit only, we have made it our mission to visit as many tea rooms as possible to sample some chocolate cake, fruit cake, tea cake, carrot cake, black forest cake, cheesecake, coffee cake…the list is endless, and is going to be difficult, but we hope that you will enjoy our brief but honest reviews!

If you have visited a tea room we’d love to know what you think. Please send us an email and we shall upload your review beneath ours!

Yorkshires famous for a good brew

Taylors of Harrogate

Taylors of Harrogate are not only famous for being one of the nation’s most successful tea and coffee merchants but also for their prestigious Betty Café and Tea Room. There is a Bettys Cafe Tea Room in five locations around Yorkshire; Harrogate, RHS Harlow Car, Ilkley, York and Northallerton.

How Taylors of Harrogate and Bettys began their partnership

Taylors of Harrogate was established in 1886 by Charles Taylor and has grown in success over the years due to the quality of his brew. Because his brews were so renowned in the area the company began to diverse there offering from just a regional wholesaler to a chain of tea shops named the Kiosks.

Meanwhile, whilst Charles Taylor was concentrating all his talents into making the best teas and coffees another family run business was enjoying much success, Bettys Café Tea Room. Even back then Bettys was renowned for their amazing cakes and great service.

It wasn’t until after the second world war that Taylors of Harrogate and Betty’s became a partnership, combing both their talents and enjoying much success to this day.

We’ll if it’s good enough for the Queen.

All Taylors of Harrogate teas are granted the stamp for Royal Warrant of Appointment for supplying fine teas to Clarence House. The stamp is very prestigious and is a symbol of a quality product!
