Accommodation Description

Bellegreen is a beautiful, stone built, three storey, 4 bedroomed Yorkshire Dales Holiday Cottage which was originally part of the village workhouse. Bellegreen is ideally located overlooking the green in the delightful village of Reeth in Swaledale. This holiday cottage in Swaledale is just a short walk from the local pubs and amenities and surrounded by views of the wonderful unspoilt countryside of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Bellegreen holiday cottage has central heating throughout and is very spacious, comfortably sleeping 7 people across the two upper floors. The holiday cottage is well suited for a family or even two families as the twin bedroom is accessed via one of the double rooms. It is decorated to a high standard, and includes some traditional features such as the exposed beams in the twin bedroom.

This dales holiday cottage boasts a large farmhouse kitchen diner which is fully equipped with all you should need for the duration of your break. To the rear of the kitchen are patio doors leading to a terraced area which allows a lot of light into the beautiful kitchen. The dining table seats up to 8 people, and a perfect place to enjoy retelling the experiences of the day over a hearty dinner.

At Bellegreen holiday cottage you are spoilt having two lounges one on the ground floor and one on the second floor. The ground floor lounge is what we would describe as the additional lounge as slightly smaller than the one upstairs, but equally as nice. Both lounges have TVs and Freesat. The upstairs lounge has an open coal fire which is ideal for relaxing in front of after a day of exploring the dales. It also has a great view of the village green. From the upstairs lounge you also have access through the rear door to the balcony, and from the balcony there are steps down to the patio and a small but very pretty garden area which includes a barbeque for you to enjoy those glorious summer evenings.

Bellegreen holiday cottage is in a great location as Reeth is at the meeting point of two very pretty dales, Swaledale and Arkengarthdale. It is near to many of the area’s walks across hills and fells or for meandering along the tranquil river footpaths. There are also a number of mountain bike trails in the vicinity to suit all standards, and only a short drive from many of the surrounding areas’ attractions. Reeth also has lots to offer from an ice cream parlour, tea rooms, and three friendly pubs through to a fantastic restaurant in the Burgoyne Hotel, which is renowned for its fine dining experience with a country twist. In addition there is also a local museum telling the history of the village and surrounding areas and a crafts centre, which is ideal for souvenirs and gifts.

To ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible all bed linen is provided and electric, central heating, oil and coal are included in the rental price. Towels are not included but can be hired for an additional £3 per set. Bellegreen is one of our dog friendly holiday cottages, 1 – 2 well behaved dogs welcome, with a £20 fee per reservation.

The history of Reeth dates way back to the 18th Century, where it used to be the capital of the lead mining industry and a local centre for hand knitting, with a population of 1,460. However, the area has evolved into the centre of the beautiful farming community that we see today. At the heart of Reeth is a triangular green, surrounded by the local community, pubs, teas rooms, restaurant and gift shops. Beyond the immediate surrounds the village is overlooked by the stunning fells of Fremington Edge and Calver Hill which we can guarantee will provide a stunning backdrop to your visit. ...

This is the perfect accommodation for a large family gathering. We were a group of seven, three generations so the excellent communal spaces accommodated all.
The kitchen was great, perfectly equipped with plenty of space around a family table.
The outside space was great for relaxing.
The house was perfectly located for all that Reeth and Swaledale had to offer.
We are seriously considering booking again.

  6. Nicholas

Well equipped family home in the centre of Reeth. Beautiful large ‘eat in’ Kitchen, 2 sitting rooms,4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Warm and comfortable. Plenty of walks around Reeth within easy reach. Three good pubs and cafes and shops in the village. Really enjoyed our stay at Bellegreen.

  7. Sue

Enjoyed our stay at Bellegreen in Reeth with a party aged from 6months to 88years. The cottage was spacious, if quirky in its layout. Despite the rain we managed to BBQ one evening, which was a great provision to have. Lovely spacious/kitchen room, with lower lounge and good sized upper lounge
