Accomodation Description

Welcome to Burton House, a recently refurbished, luxury holiday cottage in Swaledale. Situated at the end of a private road in the popular village of Reeth, the property is in a prime location to access all the local amenities as it is just a few minutes walk from the pubs, cafes and village shops which border the attractive village green.

Despite being conveniently close to the centre of Reeth, Burton House feels a world away in its cosy setting where you can enjoy the peacefulness of the Yorkshire Dales. This Dales cottage is semi-detached and underwent a complete renovation in 2018 to an extremely high standard. With the new modern, quality furnishings Burton House is now extremely homely and comfortable, laid out perfectly for a family or group of friends to enjoy one another’s company.

The farmhouse style kitchen is bright and contemporary with white gloss worktops and graphite grey units. The attractive kitchen is further complimented by the latest appliances, a kitchen island with snug bar stools and plentiful storage for your supplies during your stay. Views from the large kitchen window overlook the garden and extends across the farmland to Fremington Edge. You can also access the lawned garden via the rear door from the kitchen. Accessing the garden straight from the kitchen makes alfresco dining in the summer months easy…especially as the garden is equipped with garden furniture, barbeque and firepit!

The lounge is spacious, decorated in peaceful colours and centred around an attractive Victorian slate open fireplace. It has cosy sofas for relaxing and a 40” Smart TV with Netflix. This holiday cottage also offers free WiFi and Biomass underfloor central heating in addition to the warmth of the open fire.

The attractive and spacious bedrooms are upstairs.   One with a super king bed the second bedroom offers flexible sleeping arrangements with a zip and link bed which can be made up as a super king or twin beds on request. Both bedrooms have been tastefully decorated in soothing and light colours finished off with fresh, crisp bedding – it is the ideal place to unwind.

If you love the outdoors there is so much to do directly from the door.  There are endless footpaths where you can enjoy spectacular scenery. Including the high-level walks, such as Fremington Edge and Calver Hill to low level riverside walks along the River Swale or the Arkle Beck.

The area has become a real hub for those who like cycling either on mountain bikes, road bikes or gravel bikes. There is literally something for everyone. There is also the Swale Trail which opened in 2018 which is an unpaved path from nearby village of Grinton to Keld. The Swale Trail is fantastic for families who want to encourage younger or inexperienced children to mountain bike but it also great for those with prams!

The area is also rich with landmarks such as the lead mining industry and the busy farming community. Even if walking or cycling isn’t your thing, taking a drive in your car to explore the many picturesque villages in the area is well worth it as there is so much to see and do. From market towns with regular markets in Leyburn and Hawes, to the historic town of Richmond boasting a Georgian theatre, an Abbey and a fantastic Castle to wander around.

To ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible all bed linen and towels are provided and the electric and heating are included in the rental price.

Reeth

The history of Reeth dates way back to the 18th Century, where it used to be the capital of the lead mining industry and a local centre for hand knitting, with a population of 1,460. However, the area has evolved into the centre of the beautiful farming community that we see today. At the heart of Reeth is a triangular green, surrounded by the local community, pubs, teas rooms, restaurant and gift shops. First floor:

Sleeps 4; bedroom 1 - Super King bed, bedroom 2 – super king zip and link bed ( can be made into singles if required) Bathroom: With shower over P-shaped bath, WC and heated towel rail.

Outside:

Garden: Outside seating area to the front. To the rear a lawned area with garden furniture, BBQ and firepit (please note there are 3 steps into the garden and a walled river 55 yards from the cottage). Private parking for 2 cars.

Booking Information

  • Turbine House is available for week bookings Friday to Friday – if you would like an alternative start date please contact us on 01748 900420 as we may be able to accommodate your request. 
  • We can accept short break bookings in low and winter Seasons. Short breaks are either weekend breaks (3 nights, Friday to Monday) or mid-week breaks (4 nights, Monday to Friday)
  • If you wish to book a short break in high, upper mid or mid-seasons we can do this around four weeks in advance of your arrival date (click short breaks in the Yorkshire Dales for more information).
