Reeth

The history of Reeth dates way back to the 18th Century, where it used to be the capital of the lead mining industry and a local centre for hand knitting, with a population of 1,460. However, the area has evolved into the centre of the beautiful farming community that we see today. At the heart of Reeth is a triangular green, surrounded by the local community, pubs, teas rooms, restaurant and gift shops. Beyond the immediate surrounds the village is overlooked by the stunning fells of Fremington Edge and Calver Hill which we can guarantee will provide a stunning backdrop to your visit. ...

The cottage was well-equipped with plenty of hot water and flexible heating. The position overlooking the fields towards Reeth was idyllic and gave easy access to the hills. The outside area was a bonus.

  2. Ben

The cottage was absolutely beautiful, definitely would return. It was in a stunning area, the instructions on check in & out were perfect. Everything was fully explained and had no problems getting in. Plenty to do in the local area, all the information inside the cottage was so helpful on what was around & what to do! Had a wonderful week there & definitely would be coming back again.

  5. Roger

Lovely break, cottage had everything I and my dog could have wished for.
Great location with just the right length to and from Reeth and the pubs for a meal. Fantastic view from sitting room window.

  6. Pauline

The cottage very homely. Everything you need The views are to kill for . We could sit looking at them all day. So peaceful. The welcome pack was ok. But think the following would have been better. Bread and milk. As we arrived about 7pm and no shop near by. We planning on coming back next year.

  7. Iain

Lovely little cottage, well appointed too. Possibly not suitable for the elderly or infirm due to the steep staircase, plenty to do in the area. The only addition I would make would be having a hair dryer in the property.

  8. Alison

Great location in a beautiful village with the garden views amazing. Very clean and had everything you needed. Will be returning.

  9. Alison

Stair to the bedroom was a little steep and narrow treads but on the whole it was very good fantastic views

  10. Graham

Really enjoyed our week here. The facilities are good, and the furniture very comfortable. Two adults and a dog fitted in well. The terrace is spectacular since it catches virtually ever moment of the sun. We had no problem parking, although it fills up a bit with day walkers. Nearby pub and cycle cafe are really good.

  11. Jamie

Lovely property, beautiful sunsets, great area. Thanks.

  13. Patrica

Lovely cosy cottage only a short distance to Reeth with its choice of pubs and bakery. Clean, warm and well equipped with comfortable beds and a good base for exploring the area. We did some wonderful walks straight from the door and will definitely return to this property when we can. Parking was easy – just a short walk down the hill beside some other cottages. Thank you for the welcome basket which was much appreciated.

  14. Caroline

Hobsons Cottage is the perfect bolt-hole. My only regret is that 4 nights wasn’t long enough. I’m hoping to come back for a week in October.

  15. Catherine

Small but comfortable. we were two adults, and a third adult would have been very squeezed.

  16. Peter

Beautiful area, lovely place to stay and fantastic value.

  17. Jill

Hobson’s Cottage is in a lovely peaceful location with beautiful views of Reeth. It is a clean and comfortable accommodation and a perfect base for exploring the Dale’s. It’s a 10 min walk to the village of Reeth which has 3 pubs and 2 village stores. Thank you for the welcome basket it was much appreciated.

  18. Emma

Lovely cottage. Warm and cosy. Bed super comfortable. Excellent location. View wonderful. Would highly recommend this property.

  19. Peter

Very cosy and comfortable cottage with everything provided. Excellent. We would suggest a visitor’s book for comments and recommendations re local attractions and eating places etc. For out of season visiting (dark evenings) a torch in the porch would be useful. (We used the torch on my phone). Thanks.

  20. Peter

The cottage was very cosy and lovely and quiet,a good base for walking, would recommend the cottage to anyone.

  21. Ashlee

Such a lovely upside down cottage. Absolutely stunning location. Gorgeous little cottage, great size for a small family. Appreciated the bottle of Prosecco as it was a trip for our mini moon. We had a wonderful time. Great selection of pubs in Reeth. Only downside is a neighbour was very rude to us over parking, but obviously this is nothing to do with the cottage. Bed comfortable, got a great nights sleep. Cottage was lovely and cool respite from the heatwave. Can’t fault at all. Thanks so much.

  22. Susan

This is our second stay at Hobson’s Cottage. Love the view from the window and garden, watching rabbits and pheasants. Excellent walks from the door. Close to cafes and pubs serving food. Beautiful countryside. Hopefully we will be back.

  23. Mary

Cosy and welcoming. Good accurate description on the website and clear details regarding arrival and entry. The cottage was clean and tastefully furnished with everything you would need. Only slight negatives – sofa was not comfortable – we both got backache, and kitchen knives need sharpening or replacing. However, we will still be back! We loved the location which was peaceful but also convenient for exploring the delights of Swaledale. Thanks.

  24. Judith

Lovely Cottage. Great base for walking in Reeth and the surrounding area.

  25. Susan

View from the patio area and window, watching and listening to the lambs, rabbits and pheasant made this property fabulous for my family and I. Already booked to go back in the summer. Hopefully weather as good as would love to have a bbq and sit on the patio whilst soaking in the view. Cottage only small but had everything you needed, very clean and well presented, even a washer dryer. Patio could do with a jet wash after the winter . Would definitely recommend

  26. Massimo

An absolutely perfect stay in such a beautiful cottage. One of the nicest Airbnbs I have stayed in. We couldn’t have been happier! We miss it very much and hope to come back soon!

Perfect communication, so clean, beautiful cottage – faultless!

  27. Alex

We had a delightful stay in the snowy Dales. The cottage was perfectly situated for walks in the area as well as a short stumble back from the pubs in Reeth. Thanks for the great communication and flexibility! We had a wonderful snowy time in the Dales

  28. Michael

A very comfortable and well-appointed cottage, within easy walking distance of Reeth which has plenty of appealing features. Recommended.

  29. Sheraton

Lovely clean cottage in great location. Walks straight from the door. Local shops and pubs a short walk. Lots to see and do in local villages nearby. Great views from cottage window. A relaxing break in scenic countryside.

  30. Phillip

We had a lovely stay at Hobson’s Cottage Fremlington. The cottage is very well presented and ideal for couples wanting to get away from it all for a few days. Lovely views of the surrounding countryside and up to Reeth. An ideal base for exploring the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, North Pennines and beyond. Very steep steps down to the bathroom and bedrooms, so not ideal for those with impaired mobility.

  31. Peter

This was an excellent base for a week in Swaledale. The terrace was brilliant. The beds were very comfortable.

  32. John

Comfortable cottage. For us it ticked all the boxes !….peaceful location. Nice outdoor space. Wifi. Views. Pubs and cafes in walking distance…and some of England’s best walking opportunities from the door

  33. Margo

We really enjoyed staying at the cottage, the location is great and very picturesque, and it’s equipped with everything one may need and more. Definitely recommend to others and would love to come again!
