Accommodation Description

Situated on the outskirts of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and only one mile from the beautiful village of Dalton and two miles from the picturesque village of Ravensworth is Mill Cottage. Mill Cottage is a fantastic barn conversion within the grounds of a non-working farm and overlooking some of the most beautiful rolling farmlands.

Originally an old farm building, but with recent renovations it has been transformed, with no expense spared, to provide a truly fantastic Yorkshire Dales holiday cottage. The owners have cleverly introduced modern conveniences such as eco-friendly underfloor heating and Wi-Fi whilst retaining much of the charm of the period building.

This holiday cottage is the perfect romantic bolt hole. It has been furnished to a very high standard throughout with beautiful solid oak flooring and contemporary decoration. The accommodation is across one level and the use of space has been well thought out. The living space incorporates a social open plan layout with a kitchen, dining area and luxurious sitting area. The bedroom is spacious featuring a super king bed and contemporary en-suite with his and her vanity units.

The cottage also benefits from a private patio with garden furniture and its own private hot tub to enjoy. After a tough day exploring this is a perfect place to unwind with a glass of fizz and take in the ambience of the countryside.

What’s more, the market towns of Richmond and Barnard Castle are only a short drive and offer a number of pubs, restaurants and shops as well as popular weekly markets and tourist attractions such as castles, museums and theatre. If you are a keen walker there are plenty of walks for all abilities in the area from walks in the dales steeped with history of the infamous lead mining industry to beautiful walks in Durham and even the Lake District if you fancy a longer drive.

There is a wonderful local pub in Ravensworth which can be accessed across the open fields to enjoy a tipple or two.

If you need further accommodation Sykeland Cottage is the neighbouring cottage and sleeps two with an additional single sofa bed. Together they can sleep four in two super king beds plus additional two on single sofa beds.

Fantastic weekend away for a birthday. Accommodation was clean. Had everything you could require and was beautifully presented. The owners couldn’t do enough to help. They were amazing. We found a problem with our hot tub and text them. Within 5 minutes they arrived to sort it. Hot tub still useable but couldn’t fix ( a bit had come off – No big deal for us. Just wanted to let them know) the next day a guy from the hot tub company had arrived to sort it. Couldn’t believe how prompt they were. I would 100% recommend this place. The scones were a nice touch too! I even forgot something and they found it and returned it to us.

Thanks for a lovely weekend. Shame it rained but you can’t control that in November!

Mill cottage was perfect. The high beamed ceilings were gorgeous, the decor and furnishing top notch. Add in a super comfortable bed, awesome shower and bath, double sinks, dishwasher, BBQ and hot tub. What more could you ask for?
The location was so peaceful and pretty we even met some ducks. The owners thought of everything .i.e ice bucket, Brita filter, and fresh scones to name a few. Every little thing seemed well considered. Highly recommend and would definitely go back.

  14. Heather

Absolutely spotless spacious lodge. Had everything we needed for a lovely relaxing weekend. The ducks were an added bonus. Would certainly return and highly recommend this lodge to others.

  15. Nat

Bbq and hot tub were both well used. Pictures do not do it justice! Has plenty gorgeous little quirks and the sound of the water fountain outside balances the noise between the neighbouring cottage so it still felt very private. Each cottage has its own parking space marked with a named stone.

  16. Angie

A super cottage in a very peaceful setting. Very handy for visiting many beautiful areas of the countryside.
Very high standard of fixtures and fittings and recently decorated cottage. Owner Jo was very helpful. Would certainly go back.

  17. Olivia
