The history of Reeth dates way back to the 18th Century, where it used to be the capital of the lead mining industry and a local centre for hand knitting, with a population of 1,460. However, the area has evolved into the centre of the beautiful farming community that we see today. At the heart of Reeth is a triangular green, surrounded by the local community, pubs, teas rooms, restaurant and gift shops. Beyond the immediate surrounds the village is overlooked by the stunning fells of Fremington Edge and Calver Hill which we can guarantee will provide a stunning backdrop to your visit. ...

Stayed December 2019. Fabulous cottage sitting within a lovely village with dog friendly pubs and hotels for nights out eating good food. The cottage itself is full of charm and very comfortable with a lovely log burner , very comfortable beds and so quiet . Just brilliant we will return . The communication from Lynn the owner was excellent right from the beginning. If you want a lovely cottage in a Dales village setting then look

  10. Graham

A lovely clean cottage with everything we needed for our short break. Will definitely use it again for longer break. After some confusion due to arriving after dark, the owners were very helpful in the face of our own lack of understanding. Such a lovely patient lady. The lack of broadband in the cottage wasn’t a problem due to good 4g coverage.

  11. David.

Everything you need for a short break and conveniently located in the village which is stunning. Thanks for an enjoyable stay in your property.

  12. Ruth

A cozy cottage in a lovely village. We went as a family of four. Although rooms were small it was Ideal for a short break. It was very clean and beds were comfortable. Kitchen again small but had everything we needed. Loved the country feel of the place. Three pubs in the village and plenty of walks from the door.

  13. Patricia

The property is a delightful well appointed traditional little Yorkshire cottage in the centre of Reeth. Well presented, beautifully furnished, and lovely and cosy (central heating), with the option of using the log burner in the lounge area too. It was a particularly cold weekend when the four of us visited at the beginning of December….and returning to the cottage after little trips out…was wonderful. The added bonus was – it’s dog friendly! So my two furry anti-depressants 😊 were able to come too. (Essential for me, since the recent loss of my husband.)
An excellent stay all-round, and I highly recommend Rose Cottage. We’ll definitely return.

  14. Rachel

we had a great stay in this lovely cosy cottage

  15. Robert

Warm, cosy cottage in the heart of Reeth. Great area for walking. Plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants to choose from in a remote location.

  16. Jean

We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage has everything you need for a weekend away. It is located right in the centre of Reeth, ideal for walking, cycling and touring breaks in beautiful Swaledale.
We appreciated the log burner the first evening we were there, all ready to use with a supply of kindling, logs and firelighters. The kitchen although small was really thoughtfully supplied with enough crockery, , glasses & other items to get you started.
    We highly recommend this cottage.

  17. Paul

Had a brilliant 4 day stay in Reeth near Richmond and Leyburn. Stayed in a lovely and very well situated cottage just off the green. The cottage had everything we needed and was extremely comfortable. We tried all the pubs in the village and they were all very friendly and served good food, my favourite was the Buck, great for walking, especially with dogs also cycling and CTC. Would definitely recommend.

  18. Martin

We had a great weekend with our dogs in Reeth. The village is very dog friendly, and we are all hoping to return to Rose Cottage again soon. Thank you.

  19. Rebecca

Perfect for small groups. Cosy, clean and well equipped – there is enough space to sit, eat, and bathe and lots of touches such as space to hang towels and working lamps (it is amazing how many places don’t get that right). Cute little courtyard to drink tea in the sun first thing. Lovely weekend.

  20. Sally-Ann

Welcoming and cosy cottage in a lovely village. In close reach of all local amenities. Lots of lovely walks in the area. Warm and friendly pubs serving good food a stones throw from the cottage. Will visit again.

  21. Susan

We had a lovely weekend at this cosy cottage. Well supplied and nicely furnished. Very comfortable and really warm in spite of the freezing temperatures outside!

  22. Peter

The log burner is a new addition and adds to the cosy feel of the place
The only negative thing I would mention is that the beds are a little lumpy.

  23. Julie

Nice cottage in a really good location in the beautiful setting of Swaledale. Everything worked; the cottage was comfortable and well appointed and plenty to occupy within walking (or short driving distance) Would recommend.

  24. Julie

Lovely stay, central heating, free view tv. Scenery, walks, views and a cosy accommodation. We love Reeth. The cottage we normally stay was sold. So new owner not allowing pets.
But we were not disappointed with Rose Cottage, tucked away in a quiet area, just off the village green.
Thank you Lynn for a fabulous stay. We will definitely be returning.

The cottage was quaint and loverly our dog loved it close to all pubs and shops dogs welcome everywhere only thing was the shower was a bit of a tricle and either too hot or too cold but still would stay again

  26. Richard

Had a 3 night stay in August for the Ardrock Enduro. The cottage was perfect for us, 2 adults and a baby. There was enough room for the three of us and all the extra gear needed when travelling with a little one. Location is great, right in the centre of Reeth, near the pubs and the tea rooms. Nice and quiet at night. Would definitely stay again.

  27. Debbie

enjoyed the stay – nice location – good value for a break

  28. Lyn

Just off the main Reeth square.. everything walkable. Nice walks from the doorstep. Lovely and clean. Everything we needed. Thank you

  29. Simon

Very clean cosy cottage not a bad thing to say will definitely be going back

  30. Stuart

The cottage is perfect for 2 adults, and cosy for 4, in a lovely position in the village of Reeth – 2 shops, a post office and we tried the Black Bull & the Buck, which were very good for atmosphere and food and beer! The shower is a bit weak and there is no washing machine. We were lucky with the weather so no problem with wet togs. Would recommend as a base for exploring the Dales.

  31. Lesley

Just had a two night break in Reeth, lovely walks on both days no need to drive anywhere walked straight from cottage brilliant – weather very kind to us considering its February ! The cottage couldn’t be any cosier in fact we even turned the heating down one night. The whole cottage was pristine and very well equipped, would definitely stay again and tell family and friends about this little gem

  32. Dean

The property was warm and welcoming , had a loverly feel about it, in the centre of the village with easy access to all you need , very clean and has everything you need , lovely stay will stay there again

  33. Peter

Good location for exploring Swaledale, although there was no parking outside the place, it was no problem parking nearby.

  34. Ashley

This is our secon visit as we had such a great stay the first time we couldn’t wait to return and once again it didn’t disappoint. The cottage is lovely and well presented with everything you would need in order to have a great stay. It’s position in the village of Reeth is great, meaning if you wanted you could park your car and never need it as there are shops, pubs and a great ice cream parlour all in the lovely village. You are surrounded by fantastic walks and breathtaking scenery, meaning that once again we left feeling relaxed and our batteries recharged. We are greatly looking forward to stay number 3.

  35. Stef

Lovely cottage, great location, great value for money.

  36. Brad

The second time we have stayed, and enjoyed it just as much as the first time. Warm and dry, plenty of good towels, lashings of hot water, and very close to three pubs all serving good local beers. Our next stay is already booked.

  37. Anthony

Had a lovely short break, the cottage was very clean and in a great location within the village – will definitely return
