This charming holiday cottage in Swaledale oozes personality and has been sympathetically converted to offer the perfect romantic retreat.
Full of character, this unusual upside down accommodation offers a sociable, open plan living space upstairs with fully fitted and well equipped kitchen, dining area and comfortable seating. On the ground floor there is a king size bed, a cosy seating area in front of the wood burning stove and a ensuite shower room with basin and WC. There is also free WiFi available in the cottage.
This holiday cottage is accessed by a gravel path and benefits from an enclosed garden space with outdoor furniture – the perfect place to enjoy a morning coffee.
As mentioned this holiday cottage is conveniently positioned in the centre of Reeth, only a couple of minutes’ walk to the local amenities which include three real ale pubs, three cafes, a gift shop, village store, post office and a couple of gift shops and museum. Parking for the cottage is on the village green on a first come, first served basis.
There are plenty of walks and bike rides to explore straight from the door but there is also many more to be found within a short drive away. You can also discover the delights of the local markets held weekly in the market towns of Leyburn and Hawes which are only a short drive away. There is the Georgian town of Richmond with a castle, theatre, The Station gallery and exhibition space to visit amongst plenty more inns and eateries.
The Little Barn is one of our dog friendly holiday homes, two well behaved small / medium dogs welcome, but please note due to the spiral stair case and mezzanine floor with open balustrade. It may not be suitable for some dogs. There are a number of dog friendly pubs in the area and plenty of dog friendly walks close by which make this dales holiday apartment an ideal choice if you are looking for pet friendly accommodation.
To ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible all bed linen and towels are provided. The electricity and initial supply of fuel for the stove is included in the rental price.

Location
Reeth
The history of Reeth dates way back to the 18th Century, where it used to be the capital of the lead mining industry and a local centre for hand knitting, with a population of 1,460. However, the area has evolved into the centre of the beautiful farming community that we see today. At the heart of Reeth is a triangular green, surrounded by the local community, pubs, teas rooms, restaurant and gift shops. Beyond the immediate surrounds the village is overlooked by the stunning fells of Fremington Edge and Calver Hill which we can guarantee will provide a stunning backdrop to your visit. ...

A great location with everything you could need. The small log burner heats the whole place and makes it feel cozy after long dog walks. Plenty of heaters and blankets too if you don’t fancy the fire. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking a meal and all appliances were easy to use. There is also a folder with lots of helpful information about the accomodation and surrounding areas.
Jesus and Sonia –
Lovely cottage and surroundings. Great host, perfect communication!!! Definitely I’d book it again

We’ve just come back from a fantastic 4 nights stay here! The Air BnB is idyllic, down a quiet alleyway and we didn’t see or hear a single other person the entire time! The log burner is a beautiful touch, and we worried due to the tall ceilings that it would be chilly, but with the electric heaters on we were almost too warm so that was great! The bed was unbelievably comfy, and the entire place was fantastic! Reeth is a perfect base for exploring, and the village has 2 nice pubs with fantastic ale selections (although the food was a bit basic, but that is obviously NOT a reflection on the Air BnB at all, more just a heads up for visitors!) I would 100% recommend anyone to stay here, and would definitely come back in a heartbeat if visiting again 🙂

The cottage was very well presented by the owners, it was clean and had some lovely touches. The location was Ideal, lovely walks to langthwaite & feetham straight from the door, plenty of pubs for a stop off pint & a bite to eat. Great location overall for our 3 night break.

Everything lovely and really appreciated the welcome pack

The Little Barn had absolutely everything for our stay and the hosts also left us a lovely little welcome hamper which was much appreciated. The place was immaculate throughout. The wood burner made it feel very cosy and the additional heaters helped to maintain a nice temperature. The place is very well situated close to the village green and the pub. We enjoyed some lovely long walks by day and great food & drinks and hospitality at the local pub. Thank you, we will definitely return ????

This is a lovely, cosy property perfect for a couple. It’s tucked way behind a pub but it’s very private and quiet. There was a wood burning stove which helped to keep the cottage warm. The bed was very comfy and very warm and the cottage was clean, with everything we needed. The welcome basket was a thoughtful touch. Reeth is a bustling wee village with pubs and shops and a market on Fridays.

Very cosy apartment, comfortable bed, with an adequately provisioned kitchen. The private courtyard was really nice. The apartment is exceptionally well located within Reeth and despite being near one of the pubs, was very quiet at all times. A number of walks can be easily done from your front door.

Lovely quirky property, just right for two, or two and a four legged friend. Cosy and comfy (super comfy bed) – just right for a few days rest and relaxation after the run up to Christmas. Nice to snuggle down next to the log burner with a glass of wine. Lovely walks from the doorstep and great local pubs.
Justin –
The location was excellent in the heart of the village. The interior of The Little Barn was wonderful and clean. We really liked the log-burner and the additional heat it added to the whole house because of the open layout.

Superb location. Private but central and behind a great pub. Parking is a short walk from the house but there is always space. Little barn was a superb base for the week. Super clean and cosy.

The little barn is a quaint hidden gem, we are familiar with Reeth and loved it’s tucked away but central location. It’s so cosy and clean with log burner. The extra touches made us and our two dogs feel very at home. Will definitely recommend and return.
Lynne, UK, November 2018 –
The Little Barn is ideally located in the middle of Reeth. Very cosy and loved the log burner. The owners gave us information about the cottage, walks etc before we went, which was very useful. The welcome pack was greatly received as was all the little touches. We had a fantastic time, enjoyed the local pubs and the fireworks on bonfire night. The fish and chip van on Friday is excellent. I will definitely be returning.
Karly, UK, November 2018 –
The Little Barn was super!! The hosts met all our needs from check in to check out. Happy to help with all our requests. We also on arrival were greeted with a lovely welcome pack and a birthday card for hubby. The barn itself is just perfect for a cosy get away we took our 2 dogs with us and they were happy here too. We really loved it. Reeth itself very quiet at this time of year but has little shops and 3 pubs within a 5 min walk. We also drove to nearby Richmond and Aysgarth falls lovely walks and sights to see. The views on your drive are just stunning.
Hannah, UK, November 2018 –
So homely & lovely Perfect size for a couple & dogs Great value for money Great walks & welcoming pubs Very private
Linda, USA, October 2018 –
Loved this little place! It was super-cozy and clean. Everything we needed was right there. The kitchen was well-equipped. Our hosts made sure we had plenty of wood for the stove which was great because our first night was pretty cold. They answered any questions promptly and thoroughly. The location put us right in the center of Reeth – within easy walking distance of three great pubs in the village. Great for a couple’s getaway or a solo escape. There is beautiful countryside to explore all around the village. Thanks to our hosts!
