COVID 19 – FAQ’s

We are hoping to re-open as per Government guidance from Monday 12th of April.

We are currently contacting all our owners and holiday makers who are affected. We thank you for your patience.

Q&A

What is self-contained accommodation?

All our holiday homes are classed as self-contained accommodation.

Are you carrying out track and trace?

Yes, it is a legal requirement for those working in hospitality and tourism to help to facilitate test and trace. In each of our holiday homes we have displayed an NHS QR poster so that guests can register their presence using the NHS COVID app. Please ensure you download this app before you travel.

What happens if I feel unwell before I visit?

We want to keep everyone in our community safe, so please do not travel if you are feeling unwell or are displaying any symptoms of Coronavirus. Please remember to follow the Government guidance and do not leave home if you or someone you live with has any of the following: a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss of, or change to, your sense of smell or taste. If you or anyone in your household has any of the symptoms listed, stay at home, isolate and do not travel. Please go to www.gov.uk/coronavirus for the latest information.

What happens if the main restrictions are lifted but overnight stays aren’t allowed in Yorkshire for when you due to stay?

If restrictions are in place, preventing you to stay overnight in Yorkshire we will be able to transfer your booking to an alternative date or you can have a refund (minus the booking fee). Please email us on contactus@holidayhomeyorkshire.co.uk to make alternative arrangements.

What happens if the main restrictions are lifted but you are affected by a local lockdown, so you are unable to travel?

If you are placed in a local lockdown by the government and are unable to travel, we will be able to transfer your booking to an alternative date or you can have a refund (minus the booking fee). Please email us on contactus@holidayhomeyorkshire.co.uk to make alternative arrangements.

Will you get a refund if you want to cancel your booking because there are restrictions on how many households are allowed to mix?

If restrictions are placed on the number of households / people that are allowed to mix in accommodation we are able to transfer the booking to an alternative date when you can all stay together, you can decide to come and stay as planned but with less people or we can arrange a refund minus the booking fee.

Your balance is due, but you would like to wait till nearer to the time of your booking before you pay your balance.

Unfortunately, we cannot hold your booking without the balance payment 8 weeks before your stay. This is because if you decide not to come last minute, we may struggle to let the cottage and the owner will miss out on a booking and you shall miss out on a refund.

If you cancel a booking and we can relet the cottage, we can refund the value of your booking less the booking fee and £45 cancellation fee.

I no longer wish to come and stay at the cottage, regardless of what restrictions are in place at the time of my booking

You can cancel your booking at any time regardless of restrictions, however our normal cancellation policy will apply. This means that if you choose to cancel your deposit is non-refundable.

As we are receiving lots of enquiries, and we relet the cottage through us, for full value of your stay, then you will get a refund for monies paid (minus the non-refundable booking fee and our £45 cancellation fee).

If the cottage isn’t re-let then you won’t be due a refund but if nearer the time you decide that you would like to go ahead with your booking, then you will still be able to reinstate your booking and pay the remaining balance.

You would like a full refund now but are not affected by restrictions

Sorry but we are unable to offer full refunds now for future bookings outside of the lockdown period as we don’t know what the restrictions will be at the time of your booking. Normal cancellation policy will apply if you choose to cancel outside of lockdown restrictions.

What are we doing to keep the cottages / guests safe

We have put in place new procedures to make sure that each of our cottages has additional cleaning, particularly on frequently touched areas.  We have updated the arrival and departure times to ensure that there is enough time for additional cleaning, and also to ensure that there is no contact between the cleaner and yourselves. We will send you more information about what we are doing to keep the cottage safe prior to your stay.

Have you passed on the Government’s temporary reduction in VAT to lower the cottage prices?

Because the cottages are owned by individual owners, they don’t tend to be VAT registered and so VAT is not charged on the rental price. This means that the Government’s temporary VAT reduction does not apply to the holiday cottages.

How do I get in contact with you?

We are all working from home at the moment so the best way to get in touch with us is via email contactus@holidayhomeyorkshire.co.uk  .

Thank you

We would like to say a massive thank you for all your continued support, patience and understanding as we continue to operate under Government guidelines.

Please be kind and considerate to your fellow guests, our team, and the local community. Stay safe and well.
