LOCATION

Reeth

Reeth

The history of Reeth dates way back to the 18th Century, where it used to be the capital of the lead mining industry and a local centre for hand knitting, with a population of 1,460. However, the area has evolved into the centre of the beautiful farming community that we see today. At the heart of Reeth is a triangular green, surrounded by the local community, pubs, teas rooms, restaurant and gift shops. Beyond the immediate surrounds the village is overlooked by the stunning fells of Fremington Edge and Calver Hill which we can guarantee will provide a stunning backdrop to your visit. ...

Beautiful cottage in a stunning location. It was so cosy with the log burner and a lovely outside area with running stream. Really great escape and so peaceful. Useful maps with walks to Reeth and surrounding areas. Thank you!

  2. Donna

Quaint cottage in a small village. The lovely garden was ideal to sit out in and enjoy the views and the birds. it was very secure for our dog. The cottage was ideal for us, remote, but we had lovely drives out to market towns, and lovely walks with dog. There was a pint of milk in the fridge and a gorgeous cake left on the table for us. Hannah was very helpful when we needed to ask a couple of questions and got straight back to me, even offered to come out if we needed her to. We would definitely go back again

  3. Chris

Wonderful location for a quiet break and stunning walks. Own transport needed for shopping. Pub in village doesn’t do food but another just 15 minutes walk away does very good food. Very homely cottage, well furnished and equipped. Highly recommended.

  4. Brian

Quaint cottage, lovely quiet location with immediate walks from cottage

  5. Carol

Charming, cosy cottage with everything we needed. We felt very at home and the location gave us exactly what we were looking for in the Dales.

  6. Christopher

Lovely quiet place, perfect for a peaceful getaway. Everything was perfect from start to end, especially the sun trap outside the kitchen door! The cottage is in a good location for walks around the area as well. Loved it.

  7. Anirudh

great location in yorkshire dales national Park. beautiful and peaceful surrounding. Nice pub with great food near by( CB Inn.) if u planning to cook yourself stock up before u come. nearest store at 15 mile and so meat fuel station. wifi is good so connectivity not a issue. nice garden with a creek following next to the cottage amazing

  8. Samuel

Lovely place nice quiet part of Yorkshire dales

  9. Andrew

Lovely little cottage in fantastic location. Very enjoyable few days exploring the local area.

  10. Marianne

The property was great. Perfect size for the 4 of us. Great floors by entry doors to get the dog wiped down after a walk on the moors or in the woods. The kitchen was really well provided for with everything you need. We had some problems getting the key safe open but when we called from the nearby pub (no phone signal at the cottage) they came straight away to sort it.

  11. Ronald

Lovely little cottage, cosy, superb location. Do remember to download instructions as there is no phone connection. We had to have tea and borrow the WiFi at the local pub! It was a great place to eat and only a short walk away. There is a good range of equipment but no perishable items, so go prepared. There is a lovely little garden with a stream behind, well protected for your dog as it is all fenced.

  12. Pete

Very comfortable well equipped and clean. Traditional layout on a sloping site means some compromise but we (average fit 75s) had no problem. Nice garden with pleasant view, dog secure. Good parking for one medium car. Lovely easy walks on the doorstep. Local area is spectacular. Helpful agent. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  13. Paul

    Great location

  14. Ian

Great accommodation. Small but perfectly formed. Sat nav directions slightly off.

  15. Becki

We had a lovely stay in Langthwaite. The cottage was warm and cosy and great location for walking but also visiting Reeth, Tan Hill and Richmond in particular. Easy check in and generally good facilities

  16. Paul

We stayed on probably the coldest weekend of 2022, the wood burner was a god send! Very clean, comfy beds, and superb location. Shame no tea or coffee but l had read previous guests had mentioned this, so my bad for not taking any!!

  17. Linda

A very quaint cosy cottage in a beautiful area, clean, comfortable and well appointed.

  18. Ernesto

Beautiful cottage in a lovely location. Ideal for family and dog walkers. Shame that when we arrived there wasn’t no tea or coffee at the property , needed after a long and cold day . Overall lovely few days. If I can make a suggestion a bit more stuff on the welmlcome pack just for the simple reason that the shop are to far away so when you arrive you are covered. Thank you 👍🏻

  19. George

    Great communication throughout.

  20. Mike

This was our fourth time at Garbutt Cottage and we love it. It’s perfect for what we want which is somewhere quiet as we have a very sensitive dog, but with a pub on the doorstep. For two people and a dog it’s ideal but with the additional bedroom more people can be accommodated. Everything that you require is in the cottage. Electric storage heaters provide the warmth during the winter and most of them are pre-programmed. But they can be adjusted. There’s also a log burner if you fancy a challenge!! The only thing that would make things better – WiFi and a phone signal. But there is WiFi in the nearby pub and you can take a walk to the top of the nearby hill if you’re desperate for a phone signal – or just jump in the car. All in all a great holiday cottage.

  21. Liz, Herts

We have rediscovered Garbutt Cottage after about 16 years. We last stayed here when our kids were toddlers. Left them behind this time and have run and walked miles (even to Tan Hill and back!). Eaten well, loved the views and we had snow! (for about 10 minutes). We’ll be back again that’s for sure.

  22. Tracey Purdell, Nottinghamshire

My first visit to Garbutt, have loved it. Cottage is a cosy home from home, really relaxing environment. Even did a walk! Sun came out too – perfect! CB Inn food is immense!

  23. The Watsons, Lincoln

Cottage and garden beautiful. Managed to walk nearly every day. Lots of wild life seen. Recommend the Bridge Inn at Grinton, lovely food and beer.

  24. The Kirks, North Lincoln

Back again! Enjoyed some familiar walks and found some new ones. Weather mixed but some lovely sunny days among the wet ones! Thoroughly recommend the museum for rainy day visit. Look forward to next visit.

  25. Jeannie and Mary, Kent
