Area Guide

Fremington is a pretty hamlet situated in Swaledale, and is divided into High and Low Fremington. Low Fremington is located along the stretch of road between Reeth and Grinton. It is difficult to tell where village ends and the next begin due to the close proximity of the three villages. High Fremington is a selection of cottages that lead to the renowned Fremington Edge which attracts hundreds of visitors every year.

Dales Bike Centre is located in Fremington and is one of the best bike Centre’s in the Yorkshire Dales. At Dales Bike Centre you can rent top of the range bikes which are suitable for both ammeters and experienced mountain bikers. They will give you instructions and maps on the best routes in the area for your capabilities, or if you would prefer you can book on a group ride to explore the dales.

If you are a keen mountain biker or want to give it a go, then look no further than the 22.5 mile track up Fremington Edge. This is not for the faint hearted as it is a mixture of tight single tracks to wide gravel tracks. The route starts at Grinton Lodge and finishing at the junction of High Fremington. For more information on this route click here

Local Amenities in Fremington

Fremington is very close to both Grinton and Reeth so there is a choice of shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes to choose from. If you don’t fancy the walk then the Dales Bike Centre does offer a particularly good cup of tea and fantastic cupcakes!
