Long winding roads lead to beautiful places : )

Ripley

Ripley is a quint village a few miles from Harrogate on route towards Ripon. Although only small, it is an extremely busy little place that has two big incentives to make a stop.

Ripley Castle

Ripley Castle is a stunning, 700 year old historic building that is a pleasure to visit. Ripley Castle is full of history and is home to the Ingleby family – who are one of the ten oldest families in the UK. Not only can you take a tour of the castle and hear the fascinating stories about the Castle and those that have lived in it, you can also wonder the magnificent grounds. The gardens are a sight t o behold especially in April as the walled gardens contain the National Hyacinth Collection giving the ground a rainbow of colours and a beautiful smell.

It is worth checking what’s on at Ripley castle as you may be missing out on some fantastic events such as the haunted Party nights, the haunted Halloween weekend, Santa’s grotto and much much more.

The castle grounds also houses a very popular tea room, with outdoor benches for the sunny days.

Ripley Ice Cream Parlour

You will be in for a treat when you visit the world famous Ripley Ice Cream Parlour, hidden down an alley just off the A64 close to the village store an art gallery. Indulge in the creamiest ice cream you will ever have tasted, with unmistakeable flavours and gorgeous cones. Definitely worth a trip, wind, rain or shine…but unbeatable on a hot summer’s day!

Beware that Ripley is very popular, parking in the hub of the village may not be easy but 200 yards down the road there is a large car park which can sometimes be easily missed. It may become even more difficult to park when weddings are taking place at Ripley Church.
