Accommodation Description

Situated in a quiet spot in Reeth, Swaledale, is an attractive two bedroom apartment on Hill Close, High Sides. This cosy holiday apartment is well appointed and has a large garage for secure storage of bikes and other outdoor equipment. What’s more, the apartment is only a stone’s throw from the village amenities of pubs, cafes, restaurant, ice cream parlour, gift shops, corner shops and post office.

Although there are other residents on hill close the apartment is unique as has no adjoining neighbours to the side only to the rear of the flat as is situated on a corner plot sitting above three garages, one belonging to High Sides and two belonging to a neighbouring cottages.  Access to the flat is up a private external staircase to an undercover porch. You enter into the entrance hallway and through to the living / dining room.  The two bedrooms are accessed off the living room with the double to the right and the single to the left. The kitchen is also off the living room and is of good size with plenty of storage and work surface space.

This holiday home is heated throughout by night storage heaters with the addition of an electric, coal effect fire for the colder evenings. There is private parking for one car on the drive with room for one car in the secure garage should you wish. Further on street parking can be found nearby should you require, this is on a first come first served basis.

High Sides is the ideal location for those looking to explore Swaledale by foot or by bike. No matter which way you turn you’ll be sure to find a footpath to take you on all kinds of walks from the challenging walks up Fremington edge to the peaceful meanders down to the River Swale.

Swaledale is also popular for both mountain and road biking with events being held throughout the year for both sports.  The area has also become very popular for road cyclists wanting to have a go at the Tour de France route.  Reeth and Grinton being the last villages before the steep climb over Grinton Moor.

There are also plenty of scenic drives to the picturesque villages up and down dale, over the Buttertubs to Wensleydale or up to Tan Hill Inn – the highest pub in England.  Several market towns are also in the area, such as Leyburn and Hawes both within 30 minutes’ drive from Reeth.  Approximately 30  minutes in the opposite direction is the Georgian town of Richmond.   There are several attractions worth visiting including the impressive castle,  waterfalls, museum, Georgian Theatre and The Station which is full of artisan products, ice cream parlour, cafe and a cinema.  A swimming pool is close by to The Station.
