We have a new bridge!
We have a new bridge!
Today was an exciting day…we got to drive over the new bridge that has been constructed on Grinton Moor.
This bridge was built to replace the old bridge that was destroyed in the devasting flash flood in July 2019.
It is really great news for both residents and visitors to the area. The bridge serves as a vital link between Swaledale and Wensleydale and until last week it has been impassable for around 18 months.
This new bridge may not be as pretty as the old bridge, but we are so grateful to the team that have worked so hard to clear the debris and construct this much needed bridge.
I’m also a little bit giddy about this road/bridge being open again as the view from the top of this moor is one of my favourite views of Swaledale. It is also one of my favourite downhill sections on my road bike. I just can’t wait to go for a ride!!
If you are interested in riding in the area, feel free to contact me for suggestions of rides, I may even give you a GPX file 😉
If you haven’t got a bike but fancy a trip out on two wheels check out the Dales Bike Centre, they have a huge range of hire bikes available…even electric ones if you need some help up the hills!
Thanks for reading and take care.
