Accommodation Description

A D Coach House, situated in the quiet hamlet of Fremington in Swaledale, is an exceptional holiday home, enjoying an idyllic central location at the heart of the most northern dale of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. An extremely comfortable home from home, for six people and one well behaved dogs – it really does have everything you need to have a wonderful holiday!

This Dales cottage has recently been tastefully modernised to create the highest standard of accommodation in a beautiful location. Since the renovations A D Coach House oozes style and character with a modern twist adding to a country style theme – the old combined with the new works effortlessly.

You enter the cottage into the sophisticated kitchen diner, which offers an ideal social place for friends and family to dine and socialise together. The kitchen is extensively equipped and complemented by high quality appliances including hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and Nespresso coffee maker.

From the kitchen you enter the welcoming lounge with a large wood burning stove, Yorkshire stone flags with underfloor heating, comfortable sofas, and large windows with views across the hills. There is also a smart TV and unlimited WiFi for entertainment.

Upstairs there is the family bathroom housing a bath with shower over, basin and WC. There are three bedrooms – two double bedrooms and one bunk bedroom.

Outside there is an enclosed patio with picnic bench to enjoy dining alfresco in the warmer months or enjoying a mug of coffee in the morning to the stunning sounds of the bird song. Beyond the patio there is also a small, enclosed, well-kept garden. What’s more, there is designated parking for two cars on the gravelled area next to the cottage with an electric charging point.

This holiday cottage is perfectly located to enjoy the best that Swaledale has to offer. Across the road from the cottage is the Dales Bike Centre and Cakery…we recommend visiting for one of their showstopper cakes or possibly the best jacket potatoes Yorkshire has to offer (in our opinion anyway!).

A short five-minute walk away in Grinton is the Cathedral of the Dales, St Andrews Church and one of the areas popular pubs, The Bridge Inn. The Bridge Inn offers a selection of well-kept ales, fine wines and of course a tasty food menu. Just ½ a mile in the opposite direction is the bustling village of Reeth with more amenities including three pubs, one hotel with bar and restaurant, five cafes, 2 bakeries, a gift shop and post office homing the village shop stocked full of essential supplies. The Reeth Market visits the cobbles just off the village green every Friday with some of the finest local suppliers in the area including a butcher, cheese monger, fish monger and a fruit and veg stall.

A D Coach House is in an ideal spot to explore the area. There are numerous walks straight from the door. Situated at the foot of Fremington Edge, don’t miss out on the stunning views from the top, after the challenging (but worthwhile) climb of course! Alternatively, sample some of the gentler lower level walks the area has to offer along the banks of the River Swale.

Cycling is extremely popular in the area, especially since the area was thrown into the spotlight hosting the Tour de France in 2014. The route remains popular for many road cyclists, as is the iconic circular ride to the Tan Hill Inn – the highest pub in England. Mountain biking is also huge here and gravel is growing in popularity. With the Dales Bike Centre so handily close hiring a bike couldn’t be easier if you don’t own your own. They offer a range of bikes from mountain bikes and road bikes to some fantastic E-Bikes.

Further afield there are some wonderful market towns to visit including Leyburn, Hawes and Richmond, which boasts a castle and Georgian Theatre.

To ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible all kitchen linen, bed linen and towels are provided, and the electricity is included in the rental price.

Lovely cottage, well equipped with everything you need, with some lovely extras also provided. Great location.
    Would definitely recommend.

  2. Anna

Excellent place to stay. Will definitely return. The fizz on arrival was amazing – thank you!

  3. Andrew

A perfect cottage and place to spend a family Christmas together.

  4. Anne

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at AD Coach House: the view out the window, overlooking the Dale, just sets the tone for the whole stay. We found the cottage clean, comfy and well equipped. We would recommend AD Coach House to anyone wanting to get the best out of a stay in Swaledale, being able to set off from the door to explore a beautiful area.

  5. Lisa

The best thing about the cottage is the lovely location, such a beautiful part of the Dales, we always enjoy spending time in this part of the country. Not just that, the cottage was very comfortable and really well equipped, despite being a little on the snug side size wise for our family (2 adults, 3 children) and our four legged companion. We did have an issue with wasps coming in the bathroom and bunk room window, which we made the gardener(maintenance?) guy aware of and he was pleased to be informed and said he would look into this. A word of caution however – beware and park in the allocated space ( which we had not properly understood), the neighbour is very vocal and particular about “his” spaces.

  6. Sue

This property was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. There were many walks from the door and further afield. We would definitely stay here again.

  7. Susan

Loved our stay so much we have already booked for next year. Fabulous views from front of cottage, nice little outside area to sit and relax and enjoy the scenery. We have an electric car so the EV charger made the holiday stress free. Washer/dryer another bonus. Took an outdoor dog stack so we could relax while enjoying the sunshine knowing the dog was safe. Lovely circular walks from the cottage. 4 pubs in walking distance, as well as an ice cream parlour. The bike cafe opposite do a fab all day breakfast batch as well as a fabulous selection of cakes. Only slight improvement would be to have a thick sponge cushion on the pew seats at the dining table as the seat was slightly too low for the table. Fremington is in a beautiful area of The Dales.

  8. Jayne

Perfect cottage in a perfect location. It was perfect for a weeks stay with beautiful places to visit close by. Food at the Punch Bowl Inn was excellent. The cottage had everything we needed, a home from home stay.

  9. Julie

We’ve had a superb holiday because of both of these points. On the strength of our high satisfaction rating, we’ve booked the same cottage again for next year!

  10. Rob

Lovely refurbishment of a cottage we last stayed in 5 years ago .In an excellent position for days out & walks to the pubs . Hopefully will be back .

  11. Laura

A fantastic stay in a beautiful cottage in an equally beautiful location. I will certainly be back.

  12. Tony

Lovely well finished and cosy property. Not sure it would be ideal for 6 people. Daily living accomm doesn’t reflect the upstairs area. Eg: The kitchen is a bit tight, and 6 folk around the dining table would be even cosier. As a couple with a pooch, we would deffo stay there again. Ideal location, with a handy stroll to Reeth and Grinton. Lovely enclosed garden and table if lucky with the weather!

  13. Anne

We stayed previously at AD Coach House cottage and can see how well the cottage has been renovated and brightened up. The upstairs is much as before, but the comfort and facilities downstairs have been substantially improved. We have already made plans to return.

  14. Chris

Our third stay in nine months lovely cottage in great area lots of walks and plenty of places locally to eat out

  15. Sarah

We had a lovely holiday in their beautiful cottage. Everything was perfect. We had our dog with us and had some lovely long walks before spending a cosy evening in the cottage.

  16. Timothy

Wonderful cottage based conveniently for local pubs, cafés and shopping in Leyburn. Good “dark sky” location for those liking astronomy,

  17. Anu

What a beautiful land and location. An absolute pleasure for both walking and ease.

  18. Paul

VERY CLEAN, COSY AND COMFORTABLE. LOTS OF THOUGHT HAS GONE INTO THE DECOR, FURNITURE ETC. AS YOU HAVE SAID ONCE THE BATHROOM IS BROUGHT UP TO DATE IT WILL BE PRETTY MUCH PERFECT
