Accommodation Description

In the centre of Reeth, you shall find Half Moon Stable. A cosy, romantic, dog friendly holiday cottage for two people which provides all the essentials you need for a fantastic holiday in the Yorkshire Dales.

Originally a stable as the names suggests, but now it has been transformed into a small but perfectly formed detached Swaledale holiday cottage. Tucked down a quiet lane just off the village green in Reeth with two pleasant outdoor seating areas and an enclosed patio – perfect for stays during the summer months.

This Reeth holiday cottage provides a cosy and enjoyable space to call your own as each action-packed day draws to a close. Downstairs is an open plan living and kitchen area, off the kitchen is the front door and tiled entrance hallway. Off the entrance hall is the downstairs shower room and the staircase leads to the upstairs double bedroom.

The cottage is heated throughout by modern electric radiators to keep you toasty warm in the winter months. It has a smart TV in the living area with a large comfortable sofa – ideal for cosy nights snuggled up with a glass of wine and your favourite film or a good book!

Half Moon Stable has fresh, bright décor throughout, providing a relaxing ambiance. Downstairs the light floods in through the double-glazed patio doors which leads out to one of the enclosed seating areas which is the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee.

This holiday cottage is ideal for relaxing breaks surrounded by countryside with ambles straight from the door. In a central position in a picturesque village location as well as with many more stunning villages to explore just a short drive away. What’s more, it is only a minute’s stroll to the various local amenities which includes cafes, gift shops, two bakeries, post office with corner shop, ice cream parlour and of course, three great pubs serving real ales and real pub grub.

Due to the location, situated in the heart of Swaledale, within the gorgeous Yorkshire Dales National Park, it is an unbeatable getaway for keen walkers and simply perfect for those hoping to traverse the local area on two wheels. There is so much to explore from rugged, wild open moorlands to waterfalls, rivers, stunning hay meadows and fascinating mining remains from the lead mining era that the area is also famed for. There are also some long-distance trails such as the Coast to Coast and the Pennine Way that pass through Swaledale. Sections of these challenging walks can be enjoyed as day hikes straight from Half Moon Stable.

Slightly further afield, via a very scenic routes over picturesque moorland, you’ll find the popular market towns of Hawes and Leyburn. Certainly, worth a visit, especially on market days where there is a huge variety of local produce available. There are also many attractions to visit such as the Rope Makers, the Wensleydale Cheese factory, and The Dales Countryside Museum based in Hawes. Leyburn offers more amenities including The Chocolate Shop. Not so far away is the town of Richmond, with Georgian Theatre, a wonderfully restored Castle, an Abbey and again plenty of shops, restaurants, cafes, and pubs. What’s more, The Forbidden Corner at Middleham is a fantastic day out with a unique labyrinth of tunnels, chambers, follies, and surprises to explore within a 4-acre garden.

Location

Reeth

The history of Reeth dates way back to the 18th Century, where it used to be the capital of the lead mining industry and a local centre for hand knitting, with a population of 1,460. However, the area has evolved into the centre of the beautiful farming community that we see today. At the heart of Reeth is a triangular green, surrounded by the local community, pubs, teas rooms, restaurant and gift shops. Beyond the immediate surrounds the village is overlooked by the stunning fells of Fremington Edge and Calver Hill which we can guarantee will provide a stunning backdrop to your visit. ...

Lovely little cottage within a stones throw of everything that Reeth and Swaledale has to offer so super convenient . Warm (went in April) with electrically operated radiators that were pre programmed so stress free. Perfect for a couple and dog with stone and wooden flooring for those muddy paws. T.V easy to use and Wi-Fi was good (note the password is written in visitor book not the one on the chalkboard). Nice touch was the marble kitchen tops (very nice) and mini Belfast sink. Would book again!

  2. Victoria

Location is great with easy access to walks and only a 20 min drive from Richmond . 2 great pubs on the doorstep, an ice cream parlour , cafe and post office. The outdoor seating area would be perfect in nice weather along with the hot tub . The bedroom was cosy , the bed was fine for us but on the small side (bed size and head height). The kitchen has everything you could need for a short stay . Some areas of the cottage are looking a bit tired (e.g bathroom). Overall a great stay in a great location.

  3. Sharon

  11. Barry

Absolutely perfect wee place to stay!! Reeth is gorgeous and so cute. Accommodation was perfect for our wee getaway the hand made kitchen was perfect, and the use of the small amount of space was brilliant. Loved the outdoor areas and hottub. The only wee things we thought could be improved were as follows: Firepit wasnt cleaned out when we arrived May be wise to get some bbq utensils Throw needed washing as covered with dog hair and smelled. Ps yes know it was a dog friendly place but throw needed washing. New peg basket and ice tray needed as both broken. Shower tray edges need a good clean For a 3 night stay as ours was an extra towel pp would of been fab. Bathroom was practical but could do with a wee update. A bed sheet would of been fab as it was so gorgeously hot when we stayed. Wr would love to come back in the future as we were so relaxed and loved your place. Xxxx Please dont be offended by above we just felt the few wee things mentioned let down the amazing wee property

We really enjoyed our stay in Reeth, couple of the hottest days of the year and we were able to relax in the garden and stay cool on the ground floor in the cottage.

  24. Elaine

Excellent location for the village and swaledale walks. Lovely little cottage

  25. Megan

Lovely property, outdoor space is excellent just a shame the property next door The Black Bull was having building work done when we stayed and it was very noisy dusty and a bit intrusive. Hot tub fabulous only downside to outdoor area was the slate chippings, our dog hated walking on them. Couldn’t be better located for walks and pubs.
