Accommodation Description
Harker View Cottage is a traditional Dales cottage with handy amenities nearby in the pretty and very popular village of Reeth. This Swaledale holiday home sleeps six people, welcomes two well behaved dogs and offers a great base to explore the Yorkshire Dales either by foot, bike, car, or bus.
Reeth is the hub of the winding, and exceptionally beautiful, Swaledale Valley and surrounded by the well-known fells of Fremington Edge, Calver Hill and Harkerside. It is a short drive away from pretty market towns of Leyburn and Hawes. Only 8 miles away, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park is Richmond, one of the most bustling market towns in northern England with a fabulous Castle, an Abbey, a Georgian theatre and numerous restaurants and bars.
As you enter this holiday home you will find yourself in a very spacious hallway with a gorgeous wooden floor. Here, there is ample space to hang your coats and kick off your muddy boots! Off the hallway to the left is a compact but comfortable lounge with seating for five people, a multi-fuel stove and flat screen TV. The perfect place to curl up and watch a film or relive the adventures of the day (additional dining chairs can be carried through from the kitchen to seat six in the lounge).
The kitchen / diner offers an additional sociable space to catch up with family or friends with a full-size kitchen table which seats six people. The kitchen is well equipped, offering ample storage space together with an electric oven and ceramic hob. Leading off the kitchen is the utility / boot room with a washing machine, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and a downstairs shower room. The small courtyard can be accessed from the utility room and offers a seating area for two to enjoy a coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening.
Upstairs there are three good size bedrooms and a family bathroom with bath, WC and basin. The spacious master bedroom is to the rear of the holiday home with views to Fremington Edge. The two front bedrooms are also of good size and have views to the fells of Harkerside.
The cottage is heated throughout by efficient, modern electric radiators and free Wifi is available. There is unallocated street parking available in a nearby lay-by, or, further parking is available on the village green which is a short walk away.
Harker View Cottage is one of our dog friendly cottages and welcomes two well behaved dogs and the yard to the rear offers safe outdoor space for them. There are so many walks for you and them to explore and numerous dog friendly pubs and cafes in the area to enjoy together, so no need to leave your furry friend at home!
Swaledale is a fantastic spot for both road and mountain biking and home to the largest mountain biking enduro event held once a year, and the host of Stage One of the 2014 Tour de France. At Harker View Cottage there is also bike storage in the yard in the form of metal bike stands which are secured to the ground, however locks are not supplied please bring your own.

Location
Reeth
The history of Reeth dates way back to the 18th Century, where it used to be the capital of the lead mining industry and a local centre for hand knitting, with a population of 1,460. However, the area has evolved into the centre of the beautiful farming community that we see today. At the heart of Reeth is a triangular green, surrounded by the local community, pubs, teas rooms, restaurant and gift shops. Beyond the immediate surrounds the village is overlooked by the stunning fells of Fremington Edge and Calver Hill which we can guarantee will provide a stunning backdrop to your visit. ...

The Coast to Coast walk passes very close by the village but for those that are not so keen on such a challenge, there are many less strenuous walks in the area. For example, there is a beautiful walk that takes you nearly all the way to Grinton on the banks of the River Swale at the foot of the valley. Whilst you stroll along the river bank you can take in the stunning views of the rolling hills either side of you, which is stunning on a summers day! ...
