Accomodation Description

Swallows Byre holiday cottage is really quite unique – a tasteful conversion which maintains the character of the Yorkshire Dales National Park but with a modern twist, and fantastic views up and down the Swale Valley and to the wild flower meadows below.

The owners have carefully considered how to make the most of what is essentially a compact space, but of which you are blissfully unaware. It unusually offers reversed accommodation with the living room on the upper floor and the kitchen, bedrooms and bathroom on the lower floor. This is to maximise the panorama.

The holiday cottage main entrance takes you into the living room which is situated on the upper floor. The living room offers comfortable seating for two people, natural oak flooring and a multi-fuel stove which adds additional warmth to the central heating. But what is most appealing about the living room is the fantastic south and west facing views. The roof terrace is accessed from the living rooms patio doors. This roof terrace is of a good size and is the perfect spot to sit and relax with a glass of wine on a summers evening.

On the lower floor is the modern kitchen that is fully equipped with all you should require for your stay. It is traditional in style with a Belfast sink and under floor heating. To the right of the kitchen is the double bedroom with glorious duel aspect, south and west facing views. The bedroom is particularly light and airy, with plenty of storage space in the dressing table, wardrobe and chest of drawers. Also accessed from the kitchen is the modern bathroom with under floor heating, a heated towel rail and a wonderful roll top bath with hand held shower.

The outside of this dales holiday cottage also benefits from a pretty, well-kept garden with a summer house. The summer house provides a fabulous place to sit and relax and truly absorb the outstanding natural environment that surrounds you.

This Yorkshire Dales Holiday Cottage is ideal for a romantic break, for an active couple looking to explore the Yorkshire Dales, or a bolt hole if you simply want to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Due to the design of Swallows Byre you can absorb the magnificence of the Yorkshire Dales without leaving the warmth and comfort of the holiday cottage.

The local pub, The Punch Bowl is situated approximately fifteen minutes’ walk from Swallows Byre. The Punch Bowl has been refurbished within the last few years and is renowned for its cuisine all year round should you wish for a night off cooking.

To ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible all kitchen linen, bed linen and towels are provided. The electric, central heating and logs for the multi-fuel stove are also included in the rental price.

Low Row

The Coast to Coast walk passes very close by the village but for those that are not so keen on such a challenge, there are many less strenuous walks in the area. For example, there is a beautiful walk that takes you nearly all the way to Grinton on the banks of the River Swale at the foot of the valley. Whilst you stroll along the river bank you can take in the stunning views of the rolling hills either side of you, which is stunning on a summers day! ...

Reeth

The history of Reeth dates way back to the 18th Century, where it used to be the capital of the lead mining industry and a local centre for hand knitting, with a population of 1,460. However, the area has evolved into the centre of the beautiful farming community that we see today. At the heart of Reeth is a triangular green, surrounded by the local community, pubs, teas rooms, restaurant and gift shops. Beyond the immediate surrounds the village is overlooked by the stunning fells of Fremington Edge and Calver Hill which we can guarantee will provide a stunning backdrop to your visit. ...
