The history of Reeth dates way back to the 18th Century, where it used to be the capital of the lead mining industry and a local centre for hand knitting, with a population of 1,460. Lovely old cottage in a beautiful village, tastefully decorated and furnished. It’s large too. We ate at the Buck Inn, good no nonsense pub food and friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay and can recommend.

Great place to stay. Big rooms, comfortable beds. Had my two boys in one room and there was enought space between the beds. Loved the hallway / boot room, very practical! Good shower. Beautiful setting, lovely village, great walks from the cottage, dales bike shop does a good all day breakfast. Small shop on the post office sells the essentials.
Pizza van on Thursday is very tasty!

We booked this cottage at short notice and we chose it because it had private parking, outside sitting area, dishwasher and no pets allowed.
We are so glad we found it as we absolutely loved it. It is newly finished so not many reviews as yet but it is lovely.We were so comfortable , there are 3 good sized double bedrooms so it would be good for larger parties. There’s a really useful entrance hall for boots , bags etc. The heating came on twice a day automatically which I thought was a lovely gesture in July.
The views from the lounge and the front bedroom are of the green and we really enjoyed them and also it was so quiet. We slept really well , very comfy mattress and the bedding , towels , pots , cutlery were good quality.
We really enjoyed being able to walk to the 3 pubs in Reeth for our evening meals , we also enjoyed walking straight from the cottage, we had breakfast twice at the Dales bike centre which is an easy 15 minute walk away at Fremington.
This cottage has been lovingly prepared by the family who originally lived in it for a very long time. I would say that it’s a notch above your average holiday cottage . We will definitely book again as It’s in such a good position in a fantastic village that has everything we look for.

A comfortable, spacious and well- equipped property. We loved the quirky features and history of the house. Located in a great position with stunning views, overlooking Reeth Green- it was great for people-watching! We enjoyed some fantastic walks in the Swaledale countryside and an added bonus was the 3 pubs within a minute’s walk! We would definitely stay again.

What a delightful gem of a place in the heart of the lovely village of Reeth a few steps from an ice cream parlour, 3 pubs & a post office/shop. We left our stresses at the door & had a really relaxing holiday. The views from the front of the cottage in the living room were fabulous whatever the weather, we barely used the TV but it was there as a bonus.
The kitchen was well equipped where there was a dishwasher & ample fridge-freezer room.
The cosy dining room was a step back in time with a fascinating Inglenook fireplace & old bread oven.
As it’s an old, historic property the stairs are steep but handrails made this no problem.
A real feel of being part of an old village with lots of walks on the doorstep or accessible via the local bus or by car. The maps & booklets were useful for ideas.
A community bookshop in the nearby village of Grinton (walkable) topped up our reading material & we visited the excellent Dales cafe on return feeding both body & mind.
Overall the cottage was both historic but cosy & had all the appliances & little luxuries we needed during our 10 day stay. Highly recommended!
