Location

Reeth

The history of Reeth dates way back to the 18th Century, where it used to be the capital of the lead mining industry and a local centre for hand knitting, with a population of 1,460. However, the area has evolved into the centre of the beautiful farming community that we see today. At the heart of Reeth is a triangular green, surrounded by the local community, pubs, teas rooms, restaurant and gift shops. Beyond the immediate surrounds the village is overlooked by the stunning fells of Fremington Edge and Calver Hill which we can guarantee will provide a stunning backdrop to your visit. ...

Roomy, cosy cottage, we loved the wood burning stove. Close to the green in the centre of an attractive village. ideal centre for walking in the Dales. Friendly locals, a great atmosphere in the village and much birdlife on the moors.

  2. Christine

Lovely cottage! We stayed (2 adults & 2 dogs) for just 3 nights for a short break. Perfectly located for the village green, pubs ???? and local walks around Reeth. The private enclosed garden was great to just let the dogs out without worrying about them escaping. The cottage was immaculate, and very welcoming. The pint of milk in the fridge and some cookies on arrival were a nice touch. Sadly we didn’t get to use the log burner, as it was unseasonably warm for our October stay!

  3. Allison

Perfect for us with our dog. Located in the centre of Reeth but quietly tucked away. Can see why people return. Thank you

  4. Elenor

Reeth is a lovely village in beautiful countryside. The house and garden were delightful and so handy for eateries. Perfect peace and quiet.

  5. Lynn

the old barn is so very well positioned to go walking and the local pubs are very friendly, and do lovely meals we ate out all week. we had our two grandsons with us so the icecream parlour in the village was very popular. the old barn was an ideal place for us to chill out and relax.

  6. David

The Old Barn exceeded our expectations. Very well maintained property and fully equipped for our needs. Set in a quiet and private location with a pleasant courtyard garden. Directions and details provided by the property manager are accurate.

  7. Kim

This holiday home is wonderful! Especially as it does have ample parking for 2 cars, we had a Volvo and a Honda CRV. Very comfortable (we found the sofa and chair to be perfect) with a well stocked kitchen, the first batch of fuel for the fire was very welcome in a very wet Aug! You are in a central location within the village without being on the main road. Within 200 yrds of 3 welcoming pubs (which all do food) and are dog friendly, a newsagents, village store and 2 excellent bakeries. Not to mention the ice cream parlour, which is well worth a visit……or 2. The surrounding area is beautiful we hired mountain bikes 1 afternoon which was great. The Forbidden Corner is excellent especially if you have children. A wonderful find in a wonderful location somewhere we would definitely return to. Thank you very much

  8. Andrew

Well equipped and comfortable, very central to the village. The milk and biscuits on arrival were much appreciated s as well as as the cosy heating.

  17. Nic

The house was lovely, well equipped and had tremendous views. Unfortunately we had to cut our stay short for reasons unconnected with the property, but we enjoyed it very much.

  18. Anja

The Old Barn is a very nice and ideal base for hiking tours in the Yorkshire Dales. Very nice neighbourhood as well. I would highly recommand the cottage.

  19. Suzanne

  20. Tracy

We stayed for a summer break as a base for enjoying the Yorkshire dales. The property is located in the centre of reeth which 3 pubs, 2 bakeries, and even an ice cream parlour. I would definitely recommend this property and would stay there again.

  21. James

We had a great stay in Reeth and this place was the perfect base to explore the area! The cottage is well-equipped and surprisingly spacious. Our dog enjoyed sniffing around the garden and the fence is a good height.

  22. Michael

  23. Kate

Lovely well located bijoux cottage. Fab stay.

  24. Liz

Lovely cottage with every you need and more. Feels like home from home. Enjoyed everything and cant suggest any areas of improvement.

  25. Stuart

Enjoyed our Christmas stay at the Old Barn. It is small but the one room open plan downstairs is bigger than the photos suggest. Beds were comfy and house toastie warm despite snow outside. The place has everything you need for a great stay in one of the prettiest areas in the Dales.

  26. Lynne

The cottage is just at the back of 2 of the pubs so nice and close to the green and great for my husband who is disabled. It is a lovely well equipped cottage with everything you need and it has plenty of space upstairs and downstairs. The garden is delightful and the cottage was immaculately clean. We would stay here again very happily.

  27. Martin

Excellent cottage in a fab location Easy to walk from the door and plenty of choice to eat out .

  28. Gary

Fantastic little cottage in the idyllic village of Reeth. Quiet location but only metres away from all local amenities and two nice pubs!! Dog friendly with a secure garden. Ideal for a couple with a dog. Would recommend and stay there again

  29. Ken

Just a short step from the village green and all its amenities but a lovely, quiet location. The enclosed garden is a real sun trap and was perfect for our dog to enjoy being outside. Cottage has everything you need to enjoy your holiday. Only gripe would be that the seating could be more comfortable. That said, it would not stop me from booking the Old Barn again.

  30. Paul

Travelled as a couple with our 2 black labs. The cottage was fine for our needs. The living room area is quite small but was ok for us with a sofa and arm chair and a lovely log burning fire. There is a tv with free view and good WiFi. There is a well equipped modern kitchen and dining table with 4 chairs to eat at. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms and modern bathroom. The double bed is nice and comfortable. To the rear of the property is a nice garden and there is ample parking. It is a little tight getting into the drive but no problem if you reverse in. The big winner of this property is the location. Reeth is a lovely place for exploring the Dales with 3 dog friendly pubs all serving food. The property is set back from the main road so it is nice and peaceful and everybody we spoke to including the neighbours were extremely friendly and welcoming. In summary we enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely return.
