Long winding roads lead to beautiful places : )

West Witton

West Witton, one of many picture postcard villages in Wensleydale is situated close to the River Ure between the popular market down of Leyburn and the gorgeous village of Aysgarth, famous for its stepped waterfall, Aysgarth Falls.

West Witton

West Witton oozes with dales charm, surrounded by rolling hills and beautiful countryside. But it is best known for its award-winning restaurant, The Wensleydale Heifer, one of Yorkshire’s finest!

Also worth a visit is the village pub, The Fox and Hound, said to have some of the best kept real ales in the dales. They also serve tasty homecooked food made from local ingredients. Furthermore, there is a very well stocked village shop for all your essentials.

There are numerous walks across the moorland nearby but the most famous walk by far, is the hike up PenHill. Although it is not the highest of hills Penhill, and its flattish summit, is situated at the mouth of Wensleydale and is visible for miles around. As far afield as the Vale of York and the North York Moors on a good day. The views from the summit are breath-taking and certainly make the steep hike well worth it!
