Hawes, Yorkshire Dales National Park

Hawes is a busy market town which lies in the heart of the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park in the shadow of Great Shunner Fell. Picturesque Hawes has the River Ure running though the centre of the town with a gorgeous bridge providing the perfect elevation to watch the flowing river in all its glory.

The Beauty of Hawes

Hawes lies in the heart of Wensleydale and is surrounded by spectacular scenery. The beauty of Hawes has an overwhelming appeal that attracts hundreds of visitors year after year. The pretty village offers a host of bustling tea rooms, busy pubs and antique shops and charming restaurants .It also has attractions such as the well-known Dales Countryside Museum and Ropeworks, located in the old railway station and a lively market which arrives every Tuesday.

The Wensleydale Creamery

Wensleydale cheese has been made in Wensleydale since 1150 just 4 miles away from Hawes at the Monastery at Fors by the Cistercian Monks. Today Hawes is home to the Wensleydale Creamery that the beloved characters, Wallace and Grommit helped make famous. The Wensleydale Creamery claim to be ‘makers of the only real Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese’ using local Wensleydale milk, and my goodness its good!

We would definitely recommend a visit to the creamery; it is something that all the family (especially cheese fans) will enjoy. And there is no better Creamery then the Wensleydale Creamery who have won over 250 awards in the last 5 years and whose ranges of cheeses are recognised all over the world.

Hardrow Force, Hawes

Close to Hawes is Hardraw Force, England's highest single-drop waterfall, with an impressive 100 ft drop. You can see Hardrow Force in the grounds of the Dragon Inn only one mile from Hawes. It is a wonderful sight and if you have the opportunity to fit this into your trip we would highly recommend it.
